What I have learnt from the audience feedback pre and post production:

The results:
         From the results of the pre-production survey I found out that the most popular genre of music video to watch was ‘Pop’, closely followed by ‘R’n’B’.
         The most popular music outlet was MTV
         80% of people downloaded their music in favour of buying
         The conventions that people expected to see within a pop video matched the ones that I initially thought of: Natural setting, lovers, story line, over the top scenes. This made me positive in the direction I was taking with my video

Without getting a considerate amount of audience feedback from my ancillary tasks, rough cut and final edit of the music video I would not have been able to assess how well my work was being received by others.

I was aware that in my rough cut a couple of shots involving lip synching appeared to be out of time, however I was unsure if this was true or if I had been looking at it for an extensive amount of time; so having people watch it, revealed to me that the shots were in fact out of synch and I was able to edit them accordingly. Without this feedback I would have not created a professional and realistic product.

Positive feedback about my music video was that it was fluid, followed pop conventions and was ‘creatively edited’.

Interestingly, the audience feedback proved that I had allocated the correct target audience as all participants whom filled out a survey were within the target audience and had at least one positive response and engaged with the music video.

Some audience commented on the narrative story told throughout the music video and said that the characters and story were believable; many had their own interpretations as to whether it was all a dream or not, which was what I intended! I think the narrative makes the pop video accessible as it is ‘something that can be watched effortlessly’.
